Hey Ahkenaton! Can you tell us a little about your educational background?

I went to high school at Clarksdale high school and graduated with a 3.92 GPA. I am now enrolled at Alcorn State University as a sophomore, but I'm studying abroad in Bangkok, Thailand where I attend Mahidol University. I also received education at Berklee College of Music which is one of the top ten music programs in the country. This education expanded across five-weeks in a summer program.

How did you pick what school to go to?

I was an excellent athlete in high school and received a lot of football scholarships to play Division 1 football, but I chose the academic route. I realized how much I loved academics and chose to major in Applied Science (electromechanical engineering). It was a bold move because I pretty much had a sure way of paying for college and athletic success , but I was willing to make that sacrifice.

What have you been doing to pay for school thus far?

My 3.92 high school GPA along with my ACT score is what gave me a near full ride to Alcorn State University. My plans are to complete my studying abroad trip and finish my studies at Alcorn State University. I plan to go back home and spread the word about my experiences.

What inspired you to share ScholarMe with so many of your friends?

Scholarme is a great scholarship outlet. I want my friends to benefit from it just as much as me, so I posted it on my social media pages and my friends responded eagerly. They all wanted to try and get easy scholarship money for school because college is expensive! I am just glad the scholarme common app has made applying so convenient.

You mentioned that you were studying abroad, what's that been like?

I am currently studying abroad for the Fall 2018 school term in Bangkok, Thailand at Mahidol University. Mahidol is the number one University in Thailand. I chose to do this study abroad experience to learn more about the culture, enhance my perspective about my place in the world, to experience a new way of living, the cheaper currency, the inexpensive traveling options, the excellent education, to meet new people and to hopefully gain new associates that could potentially influence my career.

Anything else you'd like the world to know?

It's important to me that my community back in Clarksdale Mississippi see what I am doing. I want the youth to know that if you can change your habits, you can change your life. Do the things you never thought you could do and practice self-discipline everyday. Practice doing the things that you tell yourself you're going to do. Remember, a decision without action is only a thought and if we want to become the embodiment of our thoughts we have to execute our plans.

Awesome, thanks for taking the time Ahkenaton!
